This time it's Regina Hall and Kevin Hart who star in \"About Last Night.\" Like every other movie I've seen them in, neither one is faultless. But Hart's presence is enough to redeem this movie from its serious flaws. Hall can be bitchy and unsavory and Hart can be miscast and silly but somehow none of that matters in this case because we're supposed to believe that these two are as suited for each other as you could ever imagine. Anything more than a relationship between two strangers would be too much for us to deal with. Well, I guess. Hall and Hart are the perfect versions of best-laid plans and star-crossed lovers. Too bad they're not. They're just not. Their romantic sub-plot never rises above weak and forgettable, which, in the end, is the one thing that deprives \"About Last Night\" of the one thing that they as actors can deliver...
\"About Last Night\" - Daniel Craig plays a career man in search of a new goal and Gloria Bell plays a laid-back woman in search of the same thing. He moves in with her and her teenage son and daughter. She tells him that she's been divorced twice before and the last guy took all her money and left her with an autistic child. A decade later, her apartment is filled with valuable (and very expensive) antiques and she is ready to give up on finding a man. Things begin to look up when he meets her overworked but sexy neighbor, who is looking to strike out on her own with her own TV show. Soon, he has his eye on running for U.S. Senate. Only, he's no longer the earnest boy she once knew or, so she thinks, loved. So, of course, she lies to him, and he believes her, and that's too bad for him and for us: because it's never about who you are when you open your mouth. It's all about who you're supposed to be.
